Hi Dick,

Saw your post....The problem is just as my nose suspected, the driver transistors MRF485's, and the two 22 ohm resistors. I did a
search and came up with a mod from ON7WP which replaces the drivers with FET's and some other parts are changed/removed.
Has anyone tried this mod?

I had driver failure in a 930 several years ago. I ended up replacing the very expensive, matched, lo beta, MRF485's with 2SC1969's. The 2SC1969 is a clone of the 485 made for the CB market. It has identical spec's and is much cheaper to buy. I bought several and rigged up a test circuit to match them. Wasn't very difficult to do and they worked fine for me.

RF Parts sells matched 485's but I couldn't afford their asking price. The 1969's are available from several suppliers, as well as the NTE236's. Good luck with your 930.
