[Kenwood] TS-850 vs. TS-570

Getting just a little more technical, one of the major differences in the
rigs is the receivers.
The TS-850 is triple conversion, where as the TS-570 is only dual
conversion. This allows optional cascading of crystal filters in the IFs for
better adjacent channel performance.
Choice really depends on what you intend to operate.
Enjoy!

Hi Dick,
I have both rigs.
TS-850SAT
The TS-850SAT has a better receiver especially if you have all the
receivers and add an external DSP unit. It has IF slope tuning, better
noise blankers, etc. It is bigger and heavier. It is older.
TS-570SG
If you want to do sophisticated computer control this rig is the about
as good as it gets. Everything is controllable by the computer. It
needs no level shifter for the RS-232 which makes it easy to hook up to
with the computer. It has two antenna inputs. It covers 6 meters and
more general coverage frequencies. It has a nice AF DSP unit. The
receiver is fine, but not the same as the TS-850SAT. It is small
enough to go mobile or portable, though not as small as the TS-50 or
the new Icom and Yaesu rigs.
If you have specific questions I'm happy to try and help with some
answers.

Rob
