[Kenwood] TS930 strange alignment problem

All,

I have a TS930 on my bench at the moment that I have been meaning to play
with for some time. The radio works, basically, receives, transmits etc but
somehow it doesn't feel or sound right and there are a couple of symptoms
which all seem to point in one direction, I'm just not sure which one.

The receiver does sound different when switch sidebands and there seems too
little opposite sideband rejection. Background noise on CW sounds too LF. TX
drive is hard to get on SSB, it is there on CW but a number of inductors do
not peak properly. Processor doesn't set up well and with the specified
audio input levels I cannot get any ALC even with PRO OUT set too max.

Having been through the service manual procedure several times and used
different instruments to make measurements I am fairly confident that I can
set the various CAR oscillators onto the exact frequency within the accuracy
of my calibrated equipment anyway.

When going through the rest of the alignment I find a number of the cores
are bottoming out before resonance. Clearly somebody has been here before as
a couple of the cores are cracked, L115, L112. The other cores which bottom
out are L133, L111, and L99 in the transmit chain, L80 in the noise blanker
and L143, CAR1 output.

Seems almost as if something, like CAR1, is too low in freq, but it measures
spot on. This makes me keep wondering about the 8.83MHz filter but since CW
seems to be generated after that, why does L115 bottom out?

Any ideas?

Another question, I can locate IB6 on the signal board and on the board
layout diagram but cannot locate it on the schematic or in the parts list,
what is it?

Radio is 5M s/n and I have all post s/n310xxxx- diagrams.
