[Kenwood] TS-850S Questions/Problems

Hello List!
 
Hope you're well.....I just installed the YG-455C1(500 Hz filter) and every  
time I activate it, the output is low, does not seem to be narrowing the  
passband, and I have to crank the volume way up to hear anything.   Even when I 
flip the DIP switch on and off, there's no effect.
 
Sound like a bad filter, or a common problem with this radio?  Your  help is 
appreciated.  Also, do you know of a good Kenwood tech in Southern  California?

PS:  This rig is a 30 million serial number...Should I be worried  about the 
famous DDS chip problem??
