Yeah, I was in a rage. I simply love the TS-850. One is a junker, the other
needs new
DDS and local oscillator boards. The high voltge inverter died so no display.
Otherwise the rig works...kinda hi-hi

Yes I was harsh. I just like the TS-850 so much, it hurts.
You are also right that KENWOOD may drop out of the HF market.

Simple fix for the TS-2000. The ugly bent shape. Simply use regents grade
acetone.
It makes plastic soft. You can then mold the plastic the way you want it
HI-HI.

I do intend to make my own version of the RF speech proc for Drakes IF.
The twin PBT beats the heck out of DSP!

HEY, would not a hybrid of a TS-850 and a TR-7/r7 be a radio you would
kick up 10,000 clams to get one.

Your right about Kenwood no longer being a trend setter. The TS-480's are
just not want kenwood hams want. If they introduced the ts-480 5 years ago,
Kenwood would have regained its leader ship position.

I might keep my broken 850 because I have a good feeling it will be a
collectors rig. It will bring $1800 on ebay, the Drake R-7A is selling for more
than its retail cost in 1981. Glad I got one. It is better in the RX dept than
the 850, but not by much!

Sorry I sold my TS-520 in 1979. The TS-520's hold up with time.

   Thanks for the nice letters.

73 and GOD BLESS MIKE WA2JJH----the nyc city slicker ham.
