[Kenwood] TS-950SDX and Polling

Using a TS-950SDX and either a
Kenwood IF-232C or LCU-3K
computer interface for rig control
and spotting purposes.

When either of those interfaces
are connected to the SDX
via the backpanel DIN port
I have the following symptoms
in CW and SSB even when running
only 16 watts (minimum power)
to a dummy load.

CW: When key down and monitor on
every time the computer polls the radio
the Key Down tone goes intermittent.

SSB: When speaking into the Mic
when normal Mic Gain and no
compression and monitor on;
the audio is distorted and sounds
like I am speaking under water.

Closing the Control Program
stops the problems mentioned
above because polling is
no longer occurring.
.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Note: Have found some old
articles on the Web indicating
that changing the IC-19 ROM
(CPU chip) to a later revision
could solve this problem.
The Radio has the original
IC-19 ROM chip dated 1992
even though it is a 4 Mil Serial
Number.
