[Kenwood] TS-2000 S-meter

If you have a signal generator (or can borow one) that has an
accurate output meter:

Turn the ATT on TS-2000 off or tune into a 50/52 Ohm load and
leave it on. Signal Generator Output Z should be nominal 50
Ohms (50 - 52 Ohms). Use no more than 3 ft length of 50/52 Ohm coax to
connect output of Sig Gen to TS-2000 antenna
connector. Set Sig Gen to CW, 50 uV output at 14.2 Mhz. Tune XCVR to 14.2
Mhz USB mode, USB filter. S Meter should read S9 or close to it as it peaks
across the signal when you turn VFO
knob.
Coax should be at least RG-58 in size.

The S-meter on the TS-2000 is tighter than most rigs. It is however normally
very close to what the proper calibration for an s-meter SHOULD be. If you
can hear well with your TS-2000, then I wouldn't worry about it. Think of it
this way: The TS-2000 is closer to being right than most of the other rigs
out there.
