What steps are involved in opening up the TS-850S to get to the display PC board to check that pesky Electrolytic cap near the B+? I have an incomplete copy of the service manual missing the board and parts layout diagrams(I have up to page 115 i think). Just want to make sure i can find what I'm looking for and more importantly, put it all back to gether again. hihi! Thanks!

Mine did the same thing about a year ago. Finally, the light-up time kept
getting longer and longer until....no back-lighting. The fluorescent tube
converter was not getting power. I finally traced down the cause. One of
the circuit board traces ran under one of the larger lytics on the big
display board. I traced everything down to that exact spot. I removed the
lytic and found it had leaked and corroded the tracing. I jumpered it, put
in a new cap, and voila....it works. I think it was an 8V regulated DC
line???? don't remember.
73, and hoe you find the problem....let us all know.

power supply. Everthing appears to work fine both an xmt & rcv. Only problem
is that sometimes the display takes 10-15 seconds to come to life when I
first hit the power button on. It also dosn't seem as bright to me as it
should on any brightness setting.
