[Kenwood] TS-850 Display Delay

Hi Folks!
 
I picked up a very nice TS-850S at an estate sale w/ matching speaker and power supply. Everthing appears to work fine both an xmt & rcv. Only problem is that sometimes the display takes 10-15 seconds to come to life when I first hit the power button on. It also dosn't seem as bright to me as it should on any brightness setting.
 
 Any simple answers to this? I didn't get a manual with the radio so I nothing to reference. Thanks for any help!
