Hi all,

Wow ! What a response.

Seriously, many thanks to everyone who responded with help on this problem.
I've run this amp with a variety of Yaesu rigs and never had an issue but it
was a strange one to me..  The clue was no RF, of course

I'm off to my local electrical part shop (its a gem, small, personal family
shop, which stocks all sorts anything from solder to out of stock tubes -
every town should have one).  I've got most of the bits in my junk box but I
need a power transistor and a reed relay to try both designs.
