I seem to remember a service bulletin about intermitant connectors. Is the problem only with the display? Or does the radio itself not run well on the main vfo? If I remember right the display unit takes several inputs (from the PLL board, a vfo sample, etc.) I'd have to dig out the books to see how it works..... especially since my 820 has never had the display.
