Thanks to all who responded on the list and privately.

Methinks the coax/balun method would be the best solution with the AT-230.
I had bad luck with an external 4:1 with my MFJ tuner... Hmmm...  (light
bulb!)  Now, we'll see if I can work the deal.

I have been looking at an AT-230 to go with my TS830s...  The manual is
missing, so I'll ask yet another obvious question.  It has a lug for a long
wire antenna...  Will it tune a open line fed antenna if one leg is
connected to the wire line lug and the other to the gnd lug?
