[Kenwood] TS 830s with dead bands

I need the hep of some with more experience than me on this one.  I 
have an 830s and everthing was fine a couple of weeks ago, and 
yesterday I turn the rig on and suddenly I can no longer receive 
anything on 160m, 17m, and 10m (28.0 - 28.5 only is dead; the 
remainder of 10m is fine).  Now, when I say "no longer receive" I mean 
the radio goes absolutely silent (hissing from the audio can still be 
heard), but the dial goes dark, no signals are received (even the 
calibrator can't be heard), and there isn't any transmit on the dead 
bands either.  

The other bands are just fine receive and transmit.

I don't even know where to start so some advice would be appreciated.
