As I understand the QST review and comments from others, the filtering
problem is not selectivity, but in the area that most rigs today fall
short--dynamic range and ultimate rejection. In the area of blocking
dynamic range, for instance, the 850 beat the 870 by more than 11 dB on 20
meters, according to the ARRL, and by more than 13 dB on 80 meters. This
is not to say the 870 is not a good rig--I'm sure it is--but just to
clarify the filtering issue.
