[Kenwood] TM-741, readout shows ~on~

[Jim Duffy]

Need help with a TM 741 that belongs to a local OT who is in a resthome =
here in town.

His rig won't turn off with the on/off switch, I need to use the 12v pwr =
supply switch to turn it off an on.
Once it's on, the only thing that shows in the center of the readout =
screen is:
~on~

And none of the buttons or mic buttons seem to make any changes in that =
readout. =20
I've tried several of the "turn it on while holding down the XXX =
button", to no avail.  The three LEDs are on, red.

Ideas?
