[Kenwood] TS-820S turns counting main dial

Anyone had a experience with fixing this? Mine is slipping and doesn't count
the turns. I noticed there is a small spring that protrudes from the main
gear which I presume kicks the turns counter one notch each rotation. How it
engages or whether or not the spring is perhaps broken, escapes me visually.
I have the maintenance manual for the 820S but the description of the dial
mechanism is somewhat sparse. It doesn't even show the spring in the gear.
If anyone has had experience with the mechanism and perhaps might have some
hints, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
