[Kenwood] Pin Diodes for TS-930.

Unless absolutely necessary, STAY AWAY from NTE or equivalent replacement 
parts. Usually, they are a generic fit for a wide range of parts, and the 
tolerances can vary widely.  For any kind of critical (RF) circuit, always 
try to use the original part.

I never use generic (NTE etc) parts in the repairs I perform. Even if I 
can't get the original replacement, I'll dig deep and try to find the next 
closet part by the same or a similar OEM manufacturer.  I've learned the 
hard way many years ago. While the generic replacements will work in most 
applications, they will not deliver the same level of performance. Believe 
it or not, it is like the old story of using certain brand tubes in certain 
transceivers - a lot of circuits are designed around the particular 
input/output characteristics of a particular component.

Spend the few extra dollars, and you will be happier in the long run.

The NTE 519 was recommended by one respondent as a replacement for the 
1S2588 PIN DIODE for switching in the TS-930.  The NTE Web description for 
the 519 part is Si, GP plus its use as a replacement for 1N914 and 1N4148 
diodes.  Are these two parts acceptable replacements for the 1S2588?
