Mike,
If you buy the separation kit for the V7, you get a very neat mic
extension. It's neat, because the RJ45 connector is built into a small
black frame that's easy to mount, and doesn't take up a lot of space. Very
nice for a mobile install. You can buy just the mic extension without
buying the separation kit, but the price is $40, almost the cost of the
entire kit! I wish Kenwood would sell just the jack, and not the entire
assembly, but so far I haven't been able to find the part number for the
jack by itself.
You can also use an RJ45 jumper and an RJ45 coupler that you should be able
to pick up at Staples, or Office Max, or anyplace that sells computer
accessories.

Is there a microphone cable extension for the TMV7A?
I'm considering separating the rig and control head to save shelf space,
but
will need a longer microphone cable if I do that.
