[Kenwood] TS-830S age

QST did a product review on s/n 1020313 in May of 1981.  I bought one of the
first one's out but don't remember exactly when it was.

I been told the 830S came out in the 1970's. Does any one know exactly what
year they did come out and when they quit producing them ? Is there a way to
date them by serial # ?
