Excellent!

A friend has several NOS 8552s from his days working on police VHF
radios years ago (retired UT HWY patrol). Now I know where my next tubes
will come from!

observation

Bill: Using a pair of 8552s in my TS-830S (modifing fills for 12V) and
they
work great. No problem making full power and tuning is quite stable and
smooth.=20

However, examining my collection, I found an early 60's 6146B, and the
desigh of the plate is remarkabily similar to the 6146A, while an early
70s
one was clearly different. No claims--just an observation. --Mike,

Let me toss another player in here and see how bad I get yelled at..

What about the 8552? This appears to have similar characteristics to the
6146B except it has a 12v filament. Anyone have any experience with
trying to use these instead of the 6146B (putting 12V to the filament of
course)..?=20
