[Kenwood] TH78A QUESTIONS

I have a Kenwood TH78A that belonged to a close friend of mine who is 
now a silent key.......His spouse would like to use the radio and 
brought it to me to teach her how to use it....(Yes she has a ticket or 
I wouldn't do it)     Bottom line is the radio hasn't been used much in 
the past several years and I really think there is a bad cell in the 
pack.....I can charge it for 24 hours + and it will work on high power 
for a few minutes, and then if your not gonna use low power it is not 
gonna transmit....Think I can resolve that one with some new cells as 
when I run it on a power supply it seems to keep cooking.......Big 
problem is I can't figure out how to enter things in the memory.....It 
will take one frecquency in VFO mode and work fine...Hit the MR button 
and freq is there but haven't been able to get anything stored...Have 
checked the Kenwood site but this thing is too old and they do not have 
the manual on line anymore....(Never could figure out why all the 
manufactuers do that
,guess they think we'll all buy new radios every couple years..hihi).  
Bottom line if someone could send me directions for programing memories  
(simple please) it would be greatly appreciated......If it doesn't have 
dials or thumb wheels I have to admit I am a little on the slow side but 
know a lot of readers of this forum are a lot more up on modern 
technolgy than I am.......TNX Guys & Gals......Off line replies are fine 
so we don't clog the forum....
