[Kenwood] TS-570D question

Hi there.

I read that the upgrade for the 570 to the (G) state requires replacing
the 64 pin processor. They say you have to send it to Kenwood east or west
and it is $125 +shipping.

Is it possible for me to get this processor for less and do it myself?
does Cliff do these upgrades? (I would trust him more than the kenwood
centers)

What have others out there done and how happy were you with it?
