[Kenwood] TS520S bandswitch fault

Hello All,

I've experienced a fault with my venerable TS520S whereby resistive 
leakage has developed between three tags on the heterodyne xtal 
oscillator wafer of the bandswitch.

The middle tag is the common point connected to the gate of the FET 
xtal oscillator with the result that as the leakage developed over recent 
months the oscillator has slowly become sluggish and eventually ceased 
to function altogether.

Fixing the problem is one thing, but I'm curious to know if this is a 
common fault and is it likely that the same deterioration may affect the 
entire bandswitch?? Anybody had the same problem?
