Roy, GREAT comparison of the two rigs. TS-850S has a keyer and memories,
provision for a transverter (I use mine for HF as well as my 222 IF) with the
appropriate displays for six, two and 432 via the menu. VBT works in both CW AND
SSB. It only worked on SSB on the TS-940S. I probably left something out
too.

The ARRL review of the TS-850S says it all. The best HF rig they had tested
to that date. I have a TS-450S as my back-up rig and I can honestly not see
much difference in performance when the bands aren't crowded. If there is a
contest on or a station close to your freq., the TS-850S triumphs.

I think the 850 is the best CW box out there. I have always wanted to
compare the 850 to a 950SDX but have never had the opportunity.

I wish someone out there with an SDX would tell us about it.

Steve, N4JQQ
