Bert,

To open the microphone, heat at the junction between the two parts with
a hot air gun or hair dryer.  This softens the glue that holds it
together and you will be able to unscrew the two sections.  It takes a
bit of heat to accomplish this, so be sure to use a towel or something
to hold the mike.
