    Are you attempting to tune a resonant antenna and the dummy load? If so,
you could actually be de-tuning the resonant circuits by using the ATU, thus
the slight loss in power output. I have seen that occur, although I rarely
use the ATU in my 950SDX.
    Try using the ATU with an unresonant antenna to see what happens.
