[Kenwood] Fw: ts-450 Transmit Problem

My friends TS-450 will not transmit on 40 Meters, all other bands work
OK....
 I have no schematics etc for his radio and he is a
 white-caner...

 I note on my TS-570 there are bandpass filters that are diode switched in
and out depending on which band is selected...is the 450 similar in this
respect???

 Any ideas on what may be wrong with his radio???

 He has tried and external tuner and the master reset...
