Hi All
For your information: I have just acquired a TS940 that had the apparently
well known blank display problem - just a row of decimal points. Having followed
up the "faulty ROM socket" line of thinking and found that to be OK further
investigation showed that the 9MHz oscillator using transistor Q1 on the
carrier board (X54-1840-00 A/2) was running at 6MHz and the device voltages were
very unusual. Replacing the transistor with a close UK equivalent solved the
problem and the transceiver is now running fine. Not an easy beast to work on
though and requires careful juggling to run with some of the boards folded out.
