Yes, it is possible - but not directly.  The old D104 uses a very high
impedance element which cannot directly drive the low impedance input of
the TS-850.  You will need to use or build a circuit that will transform
the high impedance mic to a low impedance output.  You can add
adjustable gain, tone control, etc. to this circuit too.  This is what I
did with mine, which I use with great success on my TS-870.  Just take
extra care to keep the preamp and mic gain set properly (for minimal AGC
indication) to avoid over driving the rig.
