No mic is too hot for the 830. Don't let it's age fool you....it is one of
the nicest sounding Kenwood radios ever built. The on the air listener
wouldn't know if it is a vintage radio or a top of the line! My 850 beats it
only if I run it in the wider mode with all the mods to the DSP100 and 400$
worth of audio gear! Most new radios have fancier bells and whistles on
receive!
I still use mine with both the MC35 alone and at times with a Sennheiser
studio mic via EQ and other audio stuff..
GM4s and GM5s are not crappy mics....many in use and they all sound
respectable! Compared to what are they supposed to be crappy?
I have never met or had any association with the man who makes the Heils!!
Again....a good mic ONLY makes the 830 a hotter radio! I hope mine lasts
another trouble free 20+ years!
73,
Ron, 6Y5/4S7RO
