[Kenwood] 830S/Heil Goldline Question

There seems to be a great deal of confusion regarding the differences
between the two Goldline models. Both the GM-5 and GM-4 have two elements;
the full range "Pro Line" element and either the HC-5 "Key Element" (in the
GM-5), which is a relatively full range element, or the HC-4 "DX Dream
Machine" (in the GM-4), which is a narrower response element with an
emphasis on the high end. If you plan to use the wide position on the mic
most of the time (which is what most people do), there is no difference in
the two models- they both have EXACTLY the same "Goldline" element in the
wide position. They only time you'd notice a difference in the two models is
if you use the "narrow" position on the mic, in which case you'd be using
the HC-5 element in the GM-5, or the HC-4 element in the GM-4.

I've had both models- I used an GM-5 with both my old TS2000 and 756Pro and
got a free GM-4 with my new TS2000. I've never used either mic in the
"narrow" position, (DSP did the work for me if I wanted to tailor the sound
in a particular way), so for me, there is no difference between the two.
Unless you're going to use the narrow position, I wouldn't sell it.
