[Kenwood] TM241A VFO troubles

My TM241A has developed a quirk.=20
When attempting to tune a frequency it will only allow you to tune in =
the 147 MHz range. If you tune to 147.000 and keep going down it kicks =
back up to 147.995 and the opposite is true as well. I have played =
around with the frequencies to see if it in fact is resetting to 147 or =
just not displaying correctly and it seems to actually be resetting to =
147 meg rather than allow you to tune down to 146. I have even gone as =
far as moving frequencies from memory into the VFO that are in the 145 =
and 146 range and as soon as you turn the VFO or push the up/down on the =
mic it jumps to 147.??? whatever was on the display in the other =
segment.

I know ... I come up with some doosies.

Any ideas?
