Gosh the God of amatuer has spoken.
Things I have learned from WR0T, the Omnipotent One that I didn't =
realize..
As I got my no-code tech license last year (along with my General), I am =
not a real ham.
As someone who worked as a tech in a CB and Amatuer radio repair shop =
for five years in the late 70's, I am not a real ham. I could not put a =
coax connector on to save my life.
As a Kenwood owner and user, I am not a real ham.
Hell no, I couldn't copy a CW distress signal.
I am an easy out person.
I have no common sense.
I have no loyalties.
I helped keep failing companies afloat.
I am not needed on the ham bands.
I am not liked.
I am not respected.
Real hams like the Omnipotent One will not QSO with me.
My HF rig is a $99.00 HT.
I have long hair, no shave, baggy pants, and a t-shirt with something =
vulgar on it.
Gosh I've really learned something today.
The primary lessons I've learned today?
Conceited, self-important legends (in their own minds) like WR0T are a =
primary reason many people choose not to become hams or choose to drop =
the hobby.
WR0T won't talk to me on the air. Thank God.
If I heard a CW distress signal from WR0T on the air, I'd switch bands.
I'm glad his wife doesn't go to ham fests where I might attend (I'm =
suprised he has one). I certainly hope he doesn't go either.
Bottom line -- Piss off, WR0T.

You can flame and argue the no code thing all day but myself and a ton =

other old timers like me will agree as follows.
A no code license holder is not a real ham.
They are appliance operators.
They could not put a coax connector on to save their life.
Could they copy a distress signal in CW? Not only no but H---NO.
The supporters are the same bunch that could not pass a ham test 30 =

ago so they worked to get the law changed.
They are the easy out people.
They are for the most part educated but have no common sense.
They have no loyalties.
They helped keep failing companies in business, Kenwood and Yaesu.
The ham bands are too crowded now, we do not need more of them.
Do we like them? No
Do we respect them No.
Will we qso with them NO
Were do the majority of us operate? The Extra class portions of the =
bands
or high speed CW which they probably think is RTTY or where their =
computer
programs will not copy.
Some say they are first to help in an emergency, Bull, with what? a =
99.00
HT. They can't operate a decent HF band for long distance communication =
so
what good are they? Not much.
Yes, they carry their 99.00 HT's around sporting events and the like =
saying
they are emergency communications trying to impress people. Yea right. =
I
will take a cell phone any day over an HT.
As you are probably wondering. No I do not operate any band above 20M. I =
do
not operate 10, 6, 2, 440 and the rest of that stuff. If I want to talk
across town, I will use my phone.
Look around any ham fest and see the no code techs walking around with 3
HT's, big battery packs on their belts and lots of speaker mikes what a
joke.
Now what do they look like, usually long hair, no shave, baggy pants, no
shirt or a tee shirt with some half vulgar thing on it.
My wife refuses to go to a fest except for Dayton for this very reason.
I am proud to say that I took every single license exam before the FCC =
and
no VEC's I have a problem with them also but that is for another day.
So if the list cop wants to boot me from the list, no problem, I just =
sold
the last piece of Kenwood crap last week and now I am 100 % Icom, the =
real
ham's radio..

Very well said Scott. Like you, I never had a no code license. I went =
from
Class B
to Advanced to Extra over the last 55 years and the Extra was three =
weeks
before the
code requirement dropped. Some of the best operators I have heard =
lately
have been
no-code tech. When there is an emergency, they are there to help which =

more than
I can say for some of the "coded" hams.
