[Kenwood] H/T Security Problems?

Last December (2002) I hand carried a Laptop, TS-50, AT-50, PS-40, a
HT, a Cel phone and a GPS to Manila via Hong Kong with no problem. At
LAX they did wipe the Laptop to check for explosive matter and for
some reason my shoes made something beep, so they carried them off
someplace and checked them and brought them back with an all clear.
When departing Manila they were more concerned with my customs papers
for the gear than security matters. They acted like they see a TS-50,
etc, everyday.
I had a R-7 vertical and a trapped dipole, coax, tools, etc in a
checked golf club bag. I was sure the traps on the dipole would look
like bombs in the X-Ray machine and I would be asked to open the bag
and explain what was inside but wasn't asked.
