[Kenwood] H/T Security Problems?

My wife took a small HT with her on a trip a few weeks ago.  Put it in
checked luggage along with a copy of her FCC license.  Went through the
scanners twice (each way) with no questions.

  And, in the "old days" when non ticketed persons could meet folks at a
loading gate, I once put my HT through the scanner at the check point
and the Screener held on to it until I said yes to the question of "Is
this an amateur radio?"  I got the impression there would have been a
longer conversation if I had said no.
