He recommended against the ALF house-brand telescoping antenna.  Didn't
mention the Maldol specifically.

I had a Maldol with a tubular telescoping like the ALF on my D7 and that
is what caused the SMA failure that I experienced.

I have seen cell phone antennas with a real thin section that may be
raised.  I am guessing that something of that design might be OK and
still an improvement over the limited band coverage/dummy load shipped
with the F6a.
