[Kenwood] which is better? IF or AF dsp filters

In theory, on paper, IF DSP is better.  I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies 
to that effect, some citing lots of electrical theory.  They'll be righ, on 
paper...however...

I have owned an IC-746, and last year I spent literally 3 1/2 full hours doing 
on the air A/B testing (rigs side by side, hooked up to the same antenna) of an 
IC-746 PRO and a TS-570D(G).  Had both sets of instructions, really tried to 
make sure I was getting everything I could out of both rigs.  I was *looking* 
for excuses to flunk the 570 and buy the 746 Pro.  Heck, I even had the OK from 
my wife to spend the extra $!  I walked out with a TS-570S(G).  I couldn't find 
a signal or conditions where the 570 didn't do as well as the 746 Pro.  
Everytime I thought I had some fouled-up condition that would show that the Pro 
was better, I hit the A/B switch and could at least equal the rx on the 570.  
I'm not shilling for anyone here, btw.  There's a lot more (or maybe a lot 
less?) than lab numbers when you are pulling signals out of the air.  

I will say that I am pretty much only an SSB operator.  If I did a fair bit of 
CW, I might prefer the extra filter slots in the original 746 (not the Pro), 
but that's just speculation.
