[Kenwood] CW filter question

When I had a TS-850, I used the INRAD 400-Hz filters in the 8.83-MHz and
455-kHz IFs, and it worked very well. Excellent at 400-Hz bandpass, and with
the slope tuning the bandpass could be narrowed as needed. Better ultimate
rejection and more versatile than using different filters.

Frank, a few years ago when I was about to put cw filters in my 850 (yes, it
has the 8.83 mhz IF and the 455khz IF also) I contacted Inrad and asked
about using 250 hz filters. Their suggestion was to use 400 hz filters in
both IF's as they said the 250 hz would ring too much. So that is what I
went with. Maybe some others have different opinions, but I have been happy
with the  2 400 hz Inrad filters in the 850.

Hi all
I have a CW filter question for the 450/690. I am planning on having one 500

wide and one 270 wide filter for contesting. The idea is to use the 500 when

CQ'ing so that I can hear somebody if they're a bit off from me, and to use
the 270 for S&P where I already have the other staion tuned. Since I have a
choice of which IF to put which filter, does anybody have a suggestion on
whether the 270 should go in the 8.8 or the 455 spot?

Also - is the 850 similar in filter arrangement to the 450?
