I have a question about the wiring of a MC-60A mike. The schematic shows pin 5 of the cord that goes from the mike base to the rig being connected to the collector of a transistor which draws power from the batteries in the mike's pre-amp. I haven't opened up the mike base to check, but I assume the transistor is in the mike base. Looks to me like this transistor is configured as a voltage regulator, but I can't figure out why it is needed. What's the purpose of this transistor?
