Stay with a 500 Hz filter.  It will work best for a wide variety of
digital modes.

PSK31 is the current choice for low power digital operation.  There is
much activity every day and you can work the world with 25 watts or less
and a modest antenna. (dipole).

Have fun on digital!  I use a 850 on the digital modes and have a blast!

Quick question for those who regularly use several digital modes, about 
a 300 Hz filter (I can choose one at 3 db or 6db at the edges, a Collins

mechanical filter).

Would I be unwise to choose this over a 500 Hz filter?  I much prefer 
the 300 Hz for CW (my normal mode) but would be OK with the 500 Hz 
filter.  If a 300 Hz filter prevents, say, PACTOR, I might choose the 
500 instead.

Well, one further question, is PSK31 the main choice for low power 
operation?  Maybe that is the one I should be most concerned with, I 
plan to run QRP.
