[Kenwood] difference between ts-440 and ts-450

A friend of mine in FL has a 440 and when we talked to him the other day,
the rig sounded like his voice was wavering or FM-ing, After changing the
power supply and measuring  the voltage to make sure it was stable, the 440
was still sounding bad.
Any Idea what could cause the problem?


I have a 450SAT in the mobile which I love, the only thing that I wish I had
was a variable adjustment for the voice blanker. I need it to get rid of
some ignition noise and even when  I have it on the first setting , I get
intermod. Does anyone have a suggestion?
