[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-850S / Kantronics KAM Plus

I have the Kenwood TS-850S and the KAM Plus.
Can anybody tell me how to make the adjustments for VR18 in the Kenwood
in relation to R28/K9 in the KAM Plus?
I presently have K9 in the low position and R28 about midway and the VR18
in Kenwood is shut down.
My signal is getting out OK but there is some distortion on it at the
receiving end.
