[Kenwood] My F6A is really a F7A??

Well I picked up a Kenwood TH-F6A off of ebay last
week, and it arrived today.  Got kind of a surprise
from it.  It looked used,but can expect that, even
though the seller said "mint", and was inaccurate
about the age of the unit.  The SMA jack is a little
loose, as is the tuner/vol shaft (how do I tighten
these?).

Anyway, put it on the wattmeter to check out the
various bands, and it puts out 5 watts on 2/440, but
wont do 222 mhz.  In the Band A it will not even tune
there, just goes between 2 and 70cm.  In VFO B it will
tune there, but not transmit.

The front case says TH-F6, but I believe it may be a
TH-F7 because:
1. lack of 222 coverage on band A, and 222 transmit on
band B

2. No automatic repeater offset, both on 2 meters and
70cm

3. The default step size on 2 meters is 12.5 khz

4. When I did a VFO reset, band B came up on 430.000
instead of 440.000.

5. The default repeater offset for 70cm is 1.6 mhz

It will transmit in the 146-148 range and the 440-450
range because a freeband modification had been done to
it, but it seems really odd that a TH-F7 would end up
being sold in the US, and in a TH-F6 case.  I have the
sales receipt, which shows that it was sold in the US.

has anyone else ever had an experience like this? 
Could the freeband modification somehow disable 222
mhz and set the defaults to the TH-F7 ones?
