[Kenwood] TS-700SP

I recently obtained a TS-700SP that is working well except for 2 things and
they are minor.  I was wanting to see if anyone
would has had the same problem and how they fixed it or recommendations on
what it could be.

1) The RF meter does not respond until after about 20 minutes of warm up and
then only after you key the mic at least once.  The center function works
fine.

2) The tuning knobs seem to rub at a certain point when turning them.  I do
not see any evidence of a bent shaft but I am thinking it could be a worn
gear in the clutch.

I have not gone into the unit yet as I have just recently obtained a copy of
the service manual.

Any thoughts, recommendations, and or ideas would be appreciated.
