Plus sides:
Can cross band repeat and lock band repeat
Receives AM aircraft band (left channel only)
Dual receive (V/V, U/U, V/U) and you can hook an external speaker so one
receiver goes to one speaker and the other to the other or the internal
speaker
Can remote control the rig from a HT or inadvertently from DTMF sounds in
the same room if the mike is stock ("hot mike" fix available)
Excellent information on display including frequency, memory channel and
alpha tags all at the same time
Up to 4 separate preference menus (select a user and his/her preferences are
recalled on the rig)
Can control all functions from the DTMF mike
Small compact remote head mounts easily

Possible Downsides:
Some people HATE the blue screen and cannot read it in daylight (I don't
have that problem)
The screens have a history of failure where lines start showing up or is
temperature sensitive
If you break or lose the remote head, getting a replacement is allegedly
impossible (either they think it must have been stolen or Kenwood simply
cannot economically justify stocking just the heads; there are stories from
both sides)
Lots of configuration menus which can be confusing although there is a help
screen built into the menu system

Performance is fine
