[Kenwood] TS-2000 Mod

Hi Listers.......
 
I recently followed the directions at

to "open up" my TS-2000X rig.  I removed R52 and R53 like the cheat
sheet describes (R54 was already removed since my rig is the K-type),
put everything back together, and then performed the full reset.
 
The document says R52 expands receive and R53 expands transmit.  I
noticed the transmit expansion, but can't figure out what's changed
regarding receive expansion.  Receive frequencies still fully match
what's in the owner's manual.  Unfortunately, I don't yet own a service
manual.......and even if I did, I'm not real good with circuits and the
sort.
 
Also, on that webpage above, there is a user comment about what appears
to be the existence of a hidden menu option or item or something.
Anybody know what's going on there?
 
Any help with the R52 thing would be greatly appreciated.
