Good Afternoon, Folks....
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 My apologies for the off-topic item, but this matter is b=
ecoming=20
epidemic, there is a new twist to it, and the subject has appeared on severa=
l=20
Amateur Radio-related reflectors of late.=A0 Please bear with me and perhaps=
 I=20
can save a "newbie" and others from falling victim.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 Over the past couple of months I have received several hu=
ndred e-mail=20
messages, originating (arguably) from attbi, ATTBI, and houston.rr.com=20
subscriber(s), containing executable attachments with no text message, "new=20
game" message, and lately with "protect yourself from KLEZ.E virus"=20
messages.=A0 Also, lately, it is apparent that the individual and/or the vir=
us=20
itself can construct sender e-mail addresses containing bogus Amateur Radio=20
Service callsigns.=A0 That new twist almost nailed me, as the first such=20
message contained a return address I initially mistood for a friend, who has=
=20
a habit of sending me e-mails containing bare attachments with no text=20
message.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 So, in the outside event you are inclined to open such me=
ssages as=20
above, please check the routing before you do so, and be highly suspicious o=
f=20
callsign-laden messages particularly.=A0 Also, the purveyor of this stuff is=
=20
evidently uneducated or his English may be a second language, as his text=20
messages are constructed poorly.
=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 I apologize for so much bandwidth, but I felt the content=
 important=20
enough to add my comments.=A0 Thank you for your time and many past=20
considerations and sincerest 73 to all.

Sam Mills, N9EMZ
