[Kenwood] cw variable bandwidth tuning

John,
In SSB mode, you use the High cut and Low cut knobs to narrow up the
bandwidth. The High Cut can bring the maximum frequency down to 1.5 kHz,
while the Low Cut can bring the minimum passband frequency up to 700 Hz.
That way, with both knobs turned to the most narrow settings, you get 700 Hz
to 1500 Hz as your SSB passband. That equals 800 Hz of audio that comes
out. Not very nice for SSB, so you obviously want a wider setting than that
most of the time. If you simply turn one knob OR the other, you can cut out
a lot of QRM without having to buy and use extra fixed bandwidth filters.
The skirts won't be as steep, but 9 times out of 10, it works good enough.

Hope that helps,
Roy
