This virus is probably the Bugbear virus. It will scan through an infected
user's address book, randomly selecting someone's username and another
person's domain name, then putting them together and using them as a 'from'
header to distribute themselves to every entry in the address book. This
simply makes the virus more difficult to track. It's likely not someone
consciously doing anything malicious.
I would recommend that everyone get virus protection software and keep it
updated. Bugbear is no fun!
