[Kenwood] Help TM-701A

I have a TM-701A that the screen is very lite and it looks like the contrast
is to low. When you Transmit it get lower but you can still see it but very
hard to see, also it will not hold memories as soon as you turn the radio
off they are gone.

I have put a new battery in and also have changed the LCD to a known working
one, that don't help. Is there a spot that I can turn up the contrast and
any one know what is wrong with the memories or the contrast?

Any help would be great because the radios works great and looks new.
